DragonCon 2009

From what I hear people (not me) plan on going to this, so if you want to discuss how amazingly awesoem it'll be and rub it in that I'm not able to go this is the thread to do it in.

Also a friend of mine just got back to Gencon and said that there was almost no free stuff being given away due to the economy, lets hope DragonCon isn't like that... if they even give free stuff, I'm not sure.

Everyone who's going to Dragon*Con (sorry, Jake), they have the schedule of events post on the website and in printable pocket guide form. I suggest we start planning the events that we have to go to each day. Luckily, none of our musical choices will overlap, so we can all see Weep, Voltaire, and mc chris. Once everyone has seen the guide, post the panels that you really, really want to go to, and we can start planning.

Yeah, he hates Kingdom Hearts 2, but he puts his hate into a hilarious rant. I like Kingdom Hearts as well, but the rant is still funny.

I think James can beat the caveman from Eegah in the Link costume, but I don't think he will be able to beat this:

Man, I need to pack. I'm going to actually wear my 21 costume on the trip to the con. Ah, costumes that look like civies. Well, I won't be wearing the wig, though, until we actually get there. And by the way, did you know 21's real name is Gary? I didn't even think of that when choosing that costume.

I don't think I'll be bringing the Spy, but I'll try on the pants tonight to see if it's a go or not. Other than that, it will be 21, Dr. Insano, and the Hunter. I need to get some big costume like you, Cadet. I feel so unprepared!

One last thing, I don't have to work at all on Friday, so we can leave any time on Friday. Maybe now we'll get there in time to see the Venture Bros. fan panel.

I thought New Orleans was the Chocolate City, or at least it was according to the mayor of New Orleans. And besides, shouldn't the Chocolate City be Hershey, Pennsylvania? Thank you, I'll be here all week!

Okay, so thursday I'll pick brandy up from work, Im guessing she'll spend the night so we can work on stuff. Heather and I have to take Alexander (the cat) for his shots at nine on friday (we thought you would be working alex so we went and sceduled an early morning appointment.) anyways... after we get him home we will then leave and Im guess come pick you up unless you just want to come over and spend the night on thursday? It wouldnt be a problem if you wanted to stay home either since its on the way. no biggie.

That's fine, I thought I was working on Friday, too, until Steve told me not to worry about it. I probably won't stay over because I'll need a good night's sleep before the weekend, because I doubt I'll get one earlier. That will also give me time to get money ready for travel and food, as well as making whatever sandwiches we need for Friday meals and getting snacky things together. Just pick me up on the way. That will also be good if Brandy forgets anything when she packs tonight.

Everyone should look at the schedule of events posted on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and figure out the ones everyone wants to see. My picks are definitely any panel MST3K or Venture Bros related, and I think we all agreed to the concerts each night. But I'll figure out the ones I want to see, and we'll compare and contrast interests to make sure we see who we want to see. But I would say most of our time will be hanging out, checking out cosplay, joining up with James' group for a bit, stuff like that.

I'm getting pretty excited!

Really it seems like the the only people who do "bad costumes" are mostly first timers at D*C who are only used to little local cons. Once you go to D*C and see the extremely high level of quality of the vast majority of the costumes there, you are sort of shamed or motivated into doing a good costume. The whoe attitude towads costuming at D*C is sort, "Go Big, Go Awesome, or don't go at all."
