August 28 last Minute D*Con Costume Workday

Hey everyone, I was going to host a last minute work on stuff for Dragon*Con day up here in Cincy next week, the last weekend before D*Con. I think I might have some charity event in the morning, but by afternoon, say 2ish, I think, I should be back and ready to work on stuff. There will be food and crash space and power tools, and prop/costume experience, and bad movies.

I am going to try my damndest to make it. I've got to talk to my manager. I might be able to work out where I work Saturday morning instead of Saturday night. But I will let you know as soon as I know something.

I'm not going to be able to make it, James. Instead of having Saturday off at Disc Replay, I have today off. Saturday, I work from 3pm to close at 9pm. I really wanted to go, because I wanted to show you my progress with the Mask de Smith guns. I'm getting a bit better with bondo. I did two layers of bondo, and it didn't turn out all that great. But then I sanded that down quite a bit, and I'm working with bondo spot putty, which is a easier to work with because it's ready to apply straight from the tube. I probably should have started with that on the guns, because it only needed some thin coats on the top and bottom. It's coming along nicely, though, and I might post pictures later.

But yeah, I guess we'll just see you at Dragon*Con. We'll show up early this year, though. Not as early as you, but early.

Marshall cancelled on me yesterday as well, because he is locking himself in his apartment until R2 is finished. So, I might end up going up to Columbus after this Charity Kids Fest thing tomorrow and help with that.

I will give Brandy her Rifle at Dragon*Con.

And we will give you your cape and wig. And Brandy has the pink strap for the rifle. Do we need to get something to attach the strap to the gun?

If you can, get some "D-Rings" at Jo-Annes or another store. I think I might be able to get some before I leave, but then again, I am leaving in four days, so... wouldn't hurt to pick some up, I can quick attach them at the con, and she'll be set.

its down to the grind! what does everyone have left to do?

I need to make my glasses,earrings and finish my coat. Also go over and make sure everything is con ready.

My white blazer comes in today, so everything but the mask and guns will be complete. The guns are sanded and ready for painting, which is what I'll be starting on tonight. I also have to design little luchador mask stickers to put on the handles of the gun. I can't find a clear detailed picture of the masks on the guns, but I can at least see the color of the masks, so I can make it up from there. I'll post pictures tonight of my progress so far. They're not bad for a first attempt at prop guns. Not the quality I would have liked them to be, but good enough when we only have a few days left.

For Ganondorf, I just need to clean up the costume and make a new wood bead necklace. I'm not going to bring the shoulder armor this time just to save space. Besides, without the armor, it's more like the Wind Waker version. And I might need to buy some simple black costume gloves, too.

Just have the final coat of paint drying on my new Caboose boot armor, then it's grocery store and Target for the last minute food stuffs, and then packing, becuase I have to be ready to leave tomorrow at 4:30 PM.
