It was like the Mooninites from Aqua Teen were cats. Is it bad if a laughed a little at it?

No, this is a good thing. I love the Flash Tub. And this one is one of the best animations they have done. It's that combination of incredibly cute and absurd that makes it wonderful. "2 cats, 24 eyes!"
You should see the most recent one, where Dora the Explorer goes to the sun to meet Jesus!

So I got on /cgl/ cause Brandy was talking bout it being good. I scanned all 10 pages at the time and concluded that it was the lamest board I'd been on, then I remembered her talking about /fa/ so I went there. I concluded that /fa/ is the most boring board on 4chan. So I can solidly say that /cgl/ and /fa/ are both Shit Tier.

This is off the topic of /cgl/, /fa/, and it's tier status. I mean, I think we can all agree on where on the tier they belong (i.e. Jake's opinion).
So I applied to the Penny Arcade job, and already received an email. The thing that makes it "WTF" is that it looked like a confirmation of receiving the application, but the guy who wrote the email was trying to be funny. So the wording was really weird, so it may have been a "you didn't make the cut" email. I just can't tell! I guess I'll post it here and see what you guys think:
Quote :
Thank you for applying for the associate designer position at Penny Arcade. Although many many many of you were qualified for the position (and many overqualified... seriously, art directors? Stop it. You know better than to be applying for an associated designer position), we ended up needing to cull the field down to a mere 50 of nearly 1,000 applicants. We received cakes (delicious, thank you), flowers and straight-up bribes (we purchased more cake) amongst other things, but at the end of the day it came down to finding a very specific skill set with a very specific type of portfolio.
But again, thank you all for taking the time to apply to the position. I encourage you to apply to other positions in the future, although I won't lie to you and say "we'll keep your resume on file." We used to have a file like that. It got too big. There is no such file. Just re-apply.
Thanks, and good luck on your search!

I'm leaning towards confirmation, just because it's only been two days since the listing end date. I don't think they could have narrowed it down to 50 in two days. A week, maybe, but not 2 days. But that last paragraph makes me think rejection, especially that last line. I'm so...conflicted.

I think it sounds like a rejection, I hope I'm wrong, but that it just the way it comes across to me. If it is the case I think its slightly stupid that they would fill it up with jokes, I know they are trying to be "fun" or whatever but they should still be professional.

I think you were cut. when you get 1,000 apps... you cut for ridiculous reasons. "cut everyone with the last name starting in B' and the like. yeah. I've heard of it being done that way.

I also, unfortunately, think that it is a rejection letter, having gotten quite a few myself.

That's what I figured, but I didn't think they would already have it down to 50 in two days. I just find it odd to receive a rejection email without actually stating I was rejected. I've gotten rejection emails before, and they all said "we filled the position" or something to that effect. You know, something that's not confusing. It's a poorly worded rejection email, is all I'm saying.

It is the last two paragraphs that make me feel like it is a "rejection" letter. The asking you to reapply in the future, and good luck in your search. It really is not very clear at all. As for the getting it down to 50 people in 2 days, this could be a form letter they said, not the actual numbers just a generalization they came up with for previous jobs that they just copy and paste, and that first round could very well be like Tina described, just broad massive sweeping cuts for random things, "Anybody with X degree" "Anybody who hasn't done X job" and so on.
There is no logic in the job hunt is what I have found.

Amen, brother.
I'm almost positive it's a rejection. I just would rather have a solid answer than a vague one. I hate vague answers, especially when it comes to life-changing events like this could have been. Well, back to the search...

On the job stuff, the temp agency I am with just did their best to make me feel guilty for not switching over to a new project that had an hour and twenty minute commute for me, on I-75, the worst highway in Ohio, with the most wrecks and the most traffic snarls, about once a day, right through rush hour in both Cincinnati and Dayton.
Dude, I don't want to drive almost the same distance from my house to the northern side of Lexington, every day, on the crappiest road in Ohio, for like a dollar an hour more and working 10 hour shifts instead of normal 8. Why am I the bad guy here?
Gawd, I really hope the job with Hamilton County works out, I am sick and tired of dealing with Temp agencies

I have the MST3K of Godzilla vs Megalon burned onto a DVD for me by Shane somewhere. It's a really good one, they splice some of the footage of the one character together into a short film entitled "Rex Dart: Eskimo Spy." I will have to dig it out and bring it with me next time.
