What makes you rage today?

Go to the bank and ask for a refund request. My bank deposited my check to my parent's account, so they screwed that up first, but then I got two overdraft fees while my account was still positive. The two overdraft fees actually caused my account to go negative, so they screwed that up, too. They said the only thing I could do was fill out a refund request form, which I thought was bullshit at the time, but I actually got a refund for both erroneous overdraft fees.

The forum is dying...that's making me rage. What am I supposed to do while I'm bored at work? I can't actually work because the sales department aren't getting any new ads except for what's coming in on it's own. And what work we have had, it's all dealing with death. "In Memory..." and a new ad for a "monument" (i.e. gravestone) company. Depressing as hell.

And I'm sorry I kind of just whined about the forum, but activity did pick up, and now I'm doing my part to contribute.

Yeah well I think the excitement died down from talking about costumes because now it's stage 2: working on said costumes, and boy is that time consuming. Tina and I have been cleaning the craft room (it's a disaster!) and getting rid of a lot of things and that has been exhausting. I'm just tired of everything today, and I just need some good old fashioned relaxing to get me out of this funk.

Well, thanks to you and Tina, Brandy wants to do some spring cleaning this weekend. So I have that to look forward to. I do need to just get rid of a lot of stuff, mainly clothes. But you should definitely take this weekend to relax. Especially if we're making the trip up to Cincy the weekend after. So far, I'm still good on that plan, but I've yet to hear from any jobs I've applied to (doesn't that sound familiar to everyone).

I have pretty much conclusively decided that getting a degree in Forensics was THE WORST FRAKK’N IDEA OF MY LIFE. No Forensics job will hire me, they go with younger more inexperienced people, or string me along for several months, and then up and tell me I'm out of the Running, and no “normal” chemistry job will hire me because they either A. Don’t believe me that my degree is the same a Chem BS or B.Tell me straight up that they think I will quit in under 6 months to get a Forensics job. And nothing I can say will convince them that I want to work for them for atleast 3-5 years to get experience and gain knowledge/expound my horizons. Not even The fact that I have bent over backwards again and again to accommodate their randomly changing schedule for this project I am currently working for them. I have missed out on going several places, going to see my brother and going to Florida with Marshall, becuase they changed the schedule and so I changed my plans so I could work for them, I have also missed events and doing stuff I want to do to meet the random diaper schedule. And I have been consistent, never missed a day of work, unlike every other single temp, and still this bullshit of me sitting there for 45 mins while they tell me they basically don't trust me, and I'm not good enough to work for them, even after all the shit I've done for them on this diaper project.

I'm starting to think that most people are in the same boat as you are (and Alex and me and Tina and Brandy). Is anyone using their degree? Really? I could have gotten this job without a high school diploma. The American Dream that our parents might have had is changing drastically as jobs are outsourced, companies no longer are loyal to employees, and the economy is f**d up. That sucks so bad and I am so mad about your situation for you. I know you're a hard worker and would do them right. No one is giving anyone a chance. There are people with doctorates working at the Amazon warehouse. All of this is screwed up, and pretty soon we'll all be sharing a tent battling for scraps of food. I'm just glad I have friends like you to share my scraps with, because I've come to the realization that this is as far as I am probably going to go career wise, at least until the economy turns. We need to have an f**ing primal scream-a-thon, I think, because all of this is pissing me off (more than Dr. Who, that is.)

Really people with doctorates are working at Amazon? Thats fucked up.

The only advice I can give is one of the following:
1. look for jobs in different states / countries (not sure if you've done this yet or not)
2. go back to school (either different Bachelors or further in your field)
3. join the military (sounds awful, but it offers a lot of benefits and opportunities)

Wish I could offer more advice but I don't know anything about your field or the job market in general other than it sucks right now.


I'm kind of in a bad situation because the Anthropology department at EKU is a complete joke and they aren't helping me find internships, graduate schools, jobs, or anything. Part of the professor's job is to help us further ourselves within our field and yet when I talk to my advisor (who is the dean of the department btw) about internships or graduate schools I always get "I don't know, you'll have to do your own research." So I'm at a point where I'm thinking "screw you, shitty Anthropology department, I will do everything on my own, but don't expect this 'alumnus' to be donating shit."

And speaking of design, yeah, I'm in the same boat as everyone else with just a few tweaks. Technically, I am using my degree, but not very well. And it's part-time, which is hurting the ol' bank account. So right now, I have no money to do anything with my free time, but once I get a second part-time job, I'll have no time to spend my money.

What makes this all worse is I'm watching Lost, and in the alternate timeline for Ben, he has a doctorate in Eastern European History, but he's teaching at a public school. Now THAT'S topical.

I'm in it until the end. I've invested this much time in the series, might as well stick it through until the end of the series.

I find that with lost you can watch an ep... miss 20 and then watch another and feel the same way as if you watched it the whole way through. Slightly pissed off, and still not knowing what the hell is going on half the time.

So not a rage but definitely stressing me out. I went to a Dave Ramsey financial session with my parents the other day and it made me realize that Tina and I really need to get out of debt. In that spirit, I'm going to be working harder than ever trying to pay off bills, loans, etc. I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck (and with a nice new car payment too, yay!). I'm going to be quitting horn lessons to free up money and I'm not looking forward to telling my instructor that I have to quit... last time I told her I was having money problems she got me to clean horns in trade for lessons, but this time I really don't have the time or energy (one old horn took me 12 hours to clean!). I've been walking to work to save gas too. Man I need to spruce up my bike.

daylight savings.... because it fucking messes with you. so right now Im looking at the clock and seeing 10pm but I know right now its really fucking 11 because Im not staying up to change my clocks at 2 am in the morning to 3am. screw that.

Oi, watch it Earth Girl.

Another Monday...another day with absolutely no work. And I'm wasting their money checking the board. And the podcast I usually listen to on Monday morning is playing nothing but country. It's usually really good for psychobilly/punk/rock stuff, but sometimes he does a country show, so I'm stuck with country with nothing to do.

The bad thing is that today there will be nothing while Kate is here, so she'll get 11 1/2 hours on her timecard for doing nothing (I usually get 6-7 hours while actually doing work), and then tomorrow there will be a ton of work with only me here. Sure, I prefer that over tons of work with Kate and I here, because I have to fix every ad she touches, but still, I want to enjoy my workday without Kate. And I'm not making that up about fixing EVERY ad she made. I have last week's paper to prove it.

EKU no longer uses CAREs reports and has switched to something called DegreeWorks which has completely screwed over my transcript and claims that I am only 78% completed with my degrees. Its claiming I haven't taken classes that I have already. I'm not sure what the hell is wrong with it.
